The Reggae Takeover at Dogtown Roadhouse

Venue
Dogtown Roadhouse
Floyd, VA

Sky High Reggae presents The Reggae Takeover at Dogtown Roadhouse in Floyd on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 7:00 PM. Ky-Enie King headlines a bill that also brings Adwela and The Uprising and DJ Ruby Star to the mountains, with $20 at the door going to support the Backpack Art Program.

Ky-Enie King has spent close to two decades building a catalog he calls eclectic reggae, roots at the center with dancehall, alternative rock and acoustic soul running through it. His breakout “Rain” traveled well beyond Virginia, his music turned up in the film Shottas, and he has shared stages with Shaggy, Chronixx and Ky-Mani Marley across the United States, Jamaica, Trinidad and Europe. His recent run includes the Let It Rain EP and new singles “Never Give Up” and “Reserve More.”

Adwela and The Uprising come out of Culpeper, a seven-piece led by Adwela Dawes playing conscious roots reggae with the kind of horn and harmony weight that fills a room. Virginia Reggae named them Favorite New Artist in 2015 and they have toured nationally since, including West Coast runs, with the album Ascension in the catalog. DJ Ruby Star holds down selections, working the reggae, dub and sound system side that Ruby Star Arts has been booking around Floyd.

Dogtown Roadhouse sits in downtown Floyd with The Sun Music Hall attached, a wood-fired pizza kitchen and a full bar with fourteen rotating craft taps. It is family friendly and wheelchair accessible, which suits a benefit show. Come eat, come dance, and put the cover toward the kids.
