A Cultivated Cookout: Acoustic Reggae Festival at STUFT
About This Event
Cultivated Mind and King Street Records present A Cultivated Cookout, an all day acoustic reggae festival at STUFT in Hampton, Virginia on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Doors are at 11:30 AM and music runs from noon into the night on the Phoebus block, hosted by Unk Al, with performances inside and outside, food served in the dining room, the STUFT food truck in the lot, and a yard full of local vendors.
The day is built around the acoustic side of Hampton Roads reggae, billed by the organizers as an acoustic reggae reunion. From noon to 5:00 PM the stage rotates through Soli Satele, Vince Lee, Quisy J, I-Gabe, Josh Jahsta, Young Lion, Gabe Meeks, Anna Lisa, Mike Delouise, Walker Caskie, and Unk Al. Soli Satele, originally from Vailoa’uta in American Samoa and now based in Virginia Beach, brings the island reggae and roots sound he has carried on stages opening for Common Kings and Brenton Wood, threaded with the Stevie Wonder and Ernest Ranglin influences he wears openly.
At 3:15 PM the Skins, Strings, and Brass session takes over, a nyabinghi inspired set of classic riddims that brings Virginia reggae veterans and original Cultivated Mind band members together to chant. Vocals come from Mrtinez, with the drum circle led by Drew Boyd, Jeremy Sanchez, Drummie Jay, and Tony Pagan. Special guests include Roschell Diggs, Scott Cumpston, Kevin Garcia, Jeremy Spivey, Rob Martin, Lucian Ford, Mark Whitmore, Quindell Jenkins, Zachfucius, and Adam Mack. Countryman follows at 5:30 PM with a roots and dub DJ session.
The 6:15 PM Acoustic Roots session is an Ann Marie’s style rubadub, singers and international artists passing the mic together. Iratio, Tony Chambers, Supah Doopah Defari, Root Village, Rick Bozart, and Dutty Reynolds take turns, with acoustic riddims from Ann Marie’s Pub Crew: Yadi Rama, Jahvin Purnell, and Maestro. At 7:15 PM the night turns into an acoustic hip hop after party, with Jordan Weekley backed by Cultivated Mind and special guests New Keezy, The Outlaw, Weed Whisperer, and Josh Jahsta.
Cultivated Mind is the project of Hampton Roads multi-instrumentalist, lyricist, and producer Anthony Brand, who blends classic roots and dub production with latin, blues, and jazz into what he calls East Coast Reggae. Brand also runs King Street Records out of Southeastern Virginia, the label co-presenting this cookout.
STUFT sits at 24 North Mallory Street in Historic Downtown Phoebus, the walkable Hampton neighborhood that has become one of the peninsula’s better live music corners. The restaurant grew out of a hot sauce concept into a full kitchen and bar known for street food, a dog friendly patio, and a steady calendar of live music. The house Haas Sauce is the reason half the regulars show up.
