iRon Lion VA is Ronnie Brandon, a Virginia artist who cuts his songs over Studio One riddims and works the full range from conscious roots and lovers rock through ska, with hip hop, R&B and neo soul turning up in the catalog too. The Knotty Lionz Band is his live vehicle, scaling anywhere from a three piece to a twelve piece depending on the room. Virginia Reggae has recognized him before, and “Virginia” is out now on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube.
Base Camp is the outdoor gathering spot at Massanutten Resort in McGaheysville, up in the Shenandoah Valley. It ran a summer reggae series earlier this year, with iRon Lion and The Knotty Lionz Band on that July bill alongside Father Sun and DJ Nick Gee, so this is familiar ground for him. The mountain setting makes for a relaxed evening, good for families and resort guests as much as for the reggae faithful.
