Young Lion Reggae Live at Chef’s Market in Newport News
About This Event
Hampton Roads reggae artist David “Young Lion” Cuffee plays a free show at Chef’s Market in Newport News on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM. It falls on National Cheeseburger Day, and the kitchen is running a smashburger with your choice of side for $11 to go with it.
Young Lion has been carrying positive roots reggae around the region for years, writing his own material rather than working a covers set. His originals include “Greetings” and “She’s So Sweet,” and he has played everywhere from Boil Bay in Norfolk to this room, often alongside percussionist Jamie Hawk. He is a regular on the Chef’s Market calendar and a familiar name on Virginia stages.
Chef’s Market Food Hall and Butcher Shop sits at 11800 Merchants Walk in Newport News, with a brewery, a distillery, a butcher counter and a food hall under one roof. Come early to eat, stay for the set.
Young Lion is booked again the following day, Saturday, September 19, for a patio party at Mona Lisa’s from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
