Eastern Standard Time Live at Get Tight Lounge
About This Event
Secret Planet presents Eastern Standard Time at Get Tight Lounge in Richmond on Friday, October 9, 2026, with Richmond’s own steelboy and all vinyl selections from DJ Rattan. Doors open at 7:30 PM and the music starts at 8:00 PM on the patio.
Eastern Standard Time is one of Washington, DC’s standout ska-jazz outfits. The band grew out of the late 1990s DC ska scene, with alumni of The Skunks, The Checkered Cabs and The Pietasters, and started as a bebop-influenced ska-jazz supergroup. Over the years they have folded in rocksteady, reggae, dub, soul and spy jazz, toured the US, Canada and Europe many times over, and took home the 2023 Wammie Award for Best Ska/Reggae Artist or Group. Expect sharp horns, tight grooves and a dance floor that never gets a break.
Opening the night, steelboy is a Richmond four-piece that blends melodic skate punk with 90s-style ska punk detours. Their debut full-length, Thanks for the Invite…, came out on Punkerton Records in May 2026. DJ Rattan keeps things moving between sets, spinning strictly vinyl.
Get Tight Lounge sits on West Main Street in the Fan, near VCU, and its outdoor stage out back is a great spot for a cool October night of live ska.
