Soul Shot and ABLA bring Mr. Easy to Richmond for an 80s and 90s reggae, hip hop and soca party at The Event Center on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Doors open at 9:00 PM and the night runs until 2:00 AM, with a live performance from Mr. Easy backed by music from DJ Drake, Soul Shot Sound and special invited guest Spectrum Disco.
Mr. Easy is a Jamaican born singer who came up in Cockpit Country and moved to New York as a boy, working the sound system circuit before an Apollo Theatre performance of “Just Be A Lady” put him on the map and led to a deal with Motown. He has recorded with Dave Kelly, Tony “CD” Kelly and Beres Hammond, and moves easily between dancehall and lovers rock. “Drive Me Crazy” is the one people wait for, a radio staple that landed on VP Records’ Strictly The Best Volume 30, and “Strange Things” is close behind. He picked up two nominations at the Reggae and World Music Awards in 2003.
Around the live set, DJ Drake and Soul Shot Sound handle the throwback selection, with Spectrum Disco sitting in as guest. It is a grown folks night built on the era: dancehall and roots from the 80s and 90s, classic hip hop, and soca to keep the floor moving.
