An evening celebrating the myriad of reggae pioneers who recorded at one of Jamaica’s oldest and most influential recording studios.

The Studio One Dub Reggae Project features two immersive sets of old-school instrumental dub reggae drawn straight from the legendary vaults of Studio One, Jamaica.

Expect timeless riddims, deep basslines, classic roots reggae grooves, and authentic Jamaican sound system energy brought to life by Richmond’s premier reggae musicians.

Featuring The Cables

The Cables are legendary Jamaican vocalists and iconic Studio One recording artists known for helping define the golden era of rocksteady and roots reggae.

Formed in the late 1960s by Keeble Drummond, Elbert Stewart, and Vince Stoddard, the trio became known for soulful harmonies and timeless reggae recordings produced through the legendary Studio One label founded by Coxsone Dodd.

Among their most celebrated songs are:

  • “Baby Why”
  • “What Kind of World”
  • “Be A Man”
  • “Good Luck to You”
  • “Love Is The Answer”

Their music remains highly respected among reggae collectors and fans of classic Jamaican harmony groups.

What Is Studio One?

Studio One is one of Jamaica’s most legendary record labels and recording studios and is often referred to as the “Motown of Jamaica.”

Founded by Clement “Sir Coxsone” Dodd, Studio One helped shape nearly every major era of Jamaican music during the 1960s and 1970s including:

  • Ska
  • Rocksteady
  • Roots Reggae
  • Dub
  • Dancehall

The influence of Studio One can still be heard across reggae and sound system culture worldwide.
