Back to Basics brings 100% 90s and 2000s reggae, dancehall, soca and Caribbean classics to Jam Cafe in Virginia Beach on Saturday, November 7, 2026. First Impressions presents a night “when the music was sweet and the dance was nice,” with Supa Rock International coming down from DC to join DJ Jedi on the music.
Think the golden era of the dance: the riddims, combinations and soca anthems that ruled the parties two and three decades ago. Supa Rock International makes the trip from Washington, DC for this one, and DJ Jedi, one of Hampton Roads’ favorite Caribbean selectors and a Jam Cafe regular, holds down the home side.
Jam Cafe is a family-owned Caribbean and West African restaurant and bar on Lila Lane, open since 2014, with jerk chicken, oxtail and ackee and saltfish on the menu. On weekends the kitchen runs until 2:00 AM, so dinner and the dance can be the same stop.
