Nature’s Child closes out the summer with a free patio show at Sage Kitchen in Virginia Beach on Friday, August 28, 2026, playing from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM as part of the Sound Check series at Anderson’s. It is a return date the band has been waiting on: their May Sound Check, the very first of the series, got washed out by weather before a note was played.
Nature’s Child is Virginia Beach’s own, and one of the most reliable reggae bands on the East Coast. Their sound pulls roots reggae through rock, jazz, latin, blues and funk, which is why they work just as well on a restaurant patio as they do on a festival stage. The band has opened for Steel Pulse, Burning Spear, Third World and Damian Marley over the years, and their debut album, The First Supper, still turns up in local rotation. Live, they are loose, warm and hard to sit still through, with a frontline that works the crowd from the first song.
Sage Kitchen sits inside the greenhouse at Anderson’s Garden Center on Fisher Arch, a farm-to-table spot with scratch-made food and a full cocktail list. The patio is the point here: open air, plenty of room, seasonal drinks, and a kitchen open late on Fridays. Come early if you want a table, grab dinner, and stay for the whole set. Family friendly and free to attend.
